Yoga With Gaby

I don’t remember my very first yoga class but I vividly remember the way my first few classes made me feel. I was only 15 years old but I was pretty sure that I had found ‘my thing’. Yoga classes in that funny little gym in Vancouver made me feel strong, capable,  happy, relaxed and most of all, at home. Many years later and I still have that same feeling every time I step on my mat, whether it’s in my living room or on the other side of the world.

When I moved to Sydney I found a studio that I adored, and I began practising there most days of the week. After a while, and with some encouragement from my favourite teachers, I decided to complete their 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training. That studio no longer exists but I am eternally grateful to my teachers, Katie Rose (formerly Manitsas) and Idit Hefer Tamir for starting me on the path. Soon after I completed a Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training and fell in love with teaching Prenatal Yoga.

Sharing yoga for the pre and post natal period has become my passion. Pregnancy is a huge time of transformation in a woman’s life, whether it’s her first baby or her fifth. I love how prenatal yoga classes create a beautiful sense of community amongst the women who practice together. I also think it’s super important to have time set aside that’s just for the mother where she can connect on a deeper level with her baby, her changing body and her breath. The tools a woman learns during class can help her to navigate some of the changes of pregnancy and motherhood with more ease and grace. Prenatal yoga isn’t just about preparing for birth; it’s about preparing for motherhood!

In my Vinyasa classes I focus on teaching creative and safe sequences accompanied by an eclectic and upbeat soundtrack. My classes are warm, light-hearted and fun. I hope that when you leave my class you feel calm, content and settled in your mind and body.
